It's funny how everyone can only talk about driving techniques and mechanical details.

I watched the first and second stage, but I sort of stopped watching after that..
I need to get back into it!

Hmm, shoe's on the other foot finally, everyone 86 isn't the winner in corners for once. Although we all know that silly move made in episode 2 is the turning point in Takumi's favor.

A long time ago, I asked why there were never any import cars such as BMWs for say and the response was that they were inaccessible to the young drivers in the show, then an NSX shows up, come on man given how rare NSXs are I find it odd they couldn't fit in at least one foreign car. I loved to see a clash in ideologies and see what other "racing lingo" they can come up with.

yeah a bit weird, especially since BMWs or even Corvettes and son on are not at all impossible to access for younger kids... They just need a bit more money, that is all...

I've just been told that in Japan import cars face import tax so cost a shit ton more making it uneconomical to run a foreign car in events like touge. Shame really.

Wait, so is the ending (haven't watched them yet). The last one I watched was fifth stage, episode 14.

It's not true...
Importation in Japan is 5% on cars. No limit of age either. Insurance cost quite a bit though if you import a LHD car, but you can just import your bimmers and other porsches from england and you are good to go.
It's actually fairly easy to import a car (if this one is in good condition) in Japan. Much, MUCH easier than to import let's say an R34 GTR in the US lol
I might be moving there in a couple months (nothing sure yet), so I'm looking at shipping my Corvette as we speak :)
What cost a bit of money (about 2000$ total) is to get it registered a first time. The tech inspection is very basic but costs a shit load of money (Shaken)

If I end up in Japan, I'm totally bringing a Dodge Ram SRT-10 as revenge for all the years we never got a GT-R, an Evo, or STI or SR20 powered nissans or the honda beat or........Just in general, it's a V10 powered "FUCK YOU!". And yes, I will be flying the stars and stripes out of the bed. Because, you know, 8.3 liters of V10 just doesn't quite scream "American" at a distance.

I can only imagine the look on a Kei car owner's face when a big ass V8 Vette rolls up.

lol, this kind of car is not that uncommon in Japan. They are not very liked, nor create any kind of envy though :)
Believe me, they REALLY do not fit in the landscape.
If you want to bring an american V10, bring a Viper, that will get a lot more love and attention from Japanese than a bing SUV everyone there dislike :)
Funny thing, if they don't see you're a foreigner (gaijin) people will think you are a rich "yanki" (prononce yankee lol)

See that's the inherent beauty of the Viper pickup. People hate it at first and then.......BIG SMOKY BURNOUT AWAY!

haha, I might not bring it, not sure yet... 1600$ to ship it + a good 2000$ to get it registered, not even counting the little work I have to do on it to pass the shaken, it might be too much of a pain... It also has a HUGE mileage for Japanese people who just don't like that so much (167000 miles), so if I end up selling it there, I most likely will not get my money back.
But Corvette are not uncommon either. Rare, but not uncommon. Japanese are quitea bit more "free" than the "greatest country in the world" when it comes to driving whatever the hell they want to :)

Corvettes aren't uncommon here in the UK either, there are three C6swithin a mile of me (two coupes and one convertible) I don't know why south east London seems to be so popular among Vette owners but I'm glad it is. It is always hilarious seeing them drive off to sound of a V8 orchestra along side the usual Euroboxes and Chelsea Tractors.

I hope Takumi doesn't win on technical grounds. You can't call that a win.

Second, Third, and Extra Stages are probably the golden era of the the show IMO.

I think there should be a little more pre/post battle character dev, and shorter battles.

Yeah these come next and are the ending. There is however a movie coming out this summer that slots in somewhere towards the end; I believe between 5th and Final.
